A little background on the Foundation we support...
|
The Bubel Aiken Foundation, founded by RCA recording artist, Clay Aiken, shortly after his appearance on American Idol, Season 2, is named for Mr. Aiken and Michael Bubel, a young man with Autism who Clay worked with as a Special Education student. Disappointed to find that because of his disability, Michael was often excluded from the everyday activities that other children enjoyed, Clay made a promise to change the situation for young people with special needs, which he fulfilled when he created The Bubel Aiken Foundation.
The Bubel Aiken Foundation works to create communities where ALL children can work, live and play together. To this end, they have set up a number of summer camps throughout the country which provide that community for children. The Foundation’s goal for 2008 is to create 100 additional “Let’s ALL Play” camps so that even more children can experience this unique opportunity. The Foundation provides the start-up funds and staff training vital for the camp’s success.
To make this vision a reality, The Foundation must raise One Million dollars before the summer of 2008. We, therefore, look to you and our local community for support hoping that a Let’s ALL Play Camp will open in Northeastern PA in the future.
